Our first movie review here on TheMovieStub.com! A comedy spoof on not only 300, but Shrek, American Idol, Deal Or No Deal, and a few other TV shows and Hollywood stars.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, as the previews looked pretty funny. One thing I was worried about was the previews having all of the funny parts and not seeing anything decent in the movie itself. Well, I was pleasantly surprised.

The Good

The one preview scene I was rather looking forward to was the dance off. Surprisingly it was several minutes long and was one of the funniest parts of the movie. They actually hired some really good dancers to do the scene which ended with the Spartans winning (of course) and instead of just running the Persians off the cliff, the last few went off of a diving board.

I thought the incorporation of the various spoofed actors and shows was pretty good, although the pit of death scene where Leonidas kicks several people into the pit was a bit too quick.

One thing we weren’t expecting were the few scenes which were pretty sick. I won’t give away any details, but they were enough to make everyone moan in disgust.

Overall

Not the best comedy, but a worth a good laugh and a bit better than expected to be honest.

Surprisingly, Meet The Spartans hit #1 at the box office with some $18 million opening. It even beat out the new Rambo movie, despite having gotten some really bad reviews by others.
